Who I am: I'm 24 yr old from Connecticut. No fancy Art schools, degrees or extra classes. Although I did have phenomenal art teachers in high school (Jane Sarjaent and Florin Firmita) Who were both heavy influences and support for me
What I do: My entire life I have been drawing. My styles and techniques have changed and I've played with a lot more mediums. But generally always the same mind set. I LOVE mixed media . Incorporating anything around me in my art. Nothing I do is just pencil or just paint. I will add anything to whatever I'm working on. Especially in my paintings. I usually work on them forever and I'm completely guilty of letting a lot of them go unfinished , because I always feel they need a little something more whether it be Spackle, a pretty piece of paper, or hair I cut off my head that day. I leave NO limits. My watercolors are less chaotic and messy. I make my own lines to color in with any nice pen and add color. I've tried nice tubes of watercolors and it just seems like more work then I want so I like simple Crayola watercolors and maybe a little help from watercolor pencils then cut it out and out it and mount it on cute scrapbook paper. so for me the watercolors are my “lazy” art and my favorite as far as results.
Why Beez?: Back to the whole mixed media thing. One of the things I started with was bees. In high school funds are low so I would LITERALLY use whatever I found. Thankfully for me I found lots of bees in windows and stuff so I would saturate them in elmers glue and somehow incorporate them into whatever I was painting. Sadly enough I don't even know what happened to any of them or where they ended up. Overall I love bees. I collect soooo much bee stuff and have a few bee tattoos . Its an obsession. The focal point of most of my art is a face. I was ending up with notebooks full and random floating faces all over and one day decided to put a little bee body on one. And thats where it began I cant stop .They're so freaking cute! I am trying to attempt switching it up and trying something else . Ive given birds a chance but it didn't really stick. Other than that I just got into resin and I'm trying to make some jewelry and see how that goes and I'm having anyone I know collect any bees they find to try to make some pendants I guess well see where that goes.
